But, the possibility of ever seeing her again keeps him determined to survive so he can be reunited with her once again
As the maelstrom takes over the country, Harry and Jasmine’s idealistic life in East Nashville is turned upside down. Driven by the need to find Jasmine, Harry moves towards their agreed meeting place. He defies the communist forces’ and catches a glimpse of her but they are soon separated again. Through the devastation and despair brought on by the war, Harry fights to survive.
To protect themselves from the brutality of the invaders, Harry and his team are forced to be resourceful, creative and brave. Together, they create a ragged but effective and resolute team. They develop effective clever strategies, and with shrewdness and might they face their brutal adversaries. The enemy forces make use of other tactics including mind control on those people that they capture. The team’s unrelenting fortitude, energy and determination – in addition to, their opposing forces with their own determination to subdue their victims – raise a high amount of tension in the book. The work excels at creating the fearsome strange dystopian world in which the story is set. The intruders infiltrate each aspect of the city and country, bombing buildings and killing those they find. Those left behind hide to protect themselves. Harry also loses close friends during the war. The book’s main concept is also based on actual political differences which add to its realism. Freewill and civil liberties are explored and contrasted to communism and its precepts. The story includes many hair-raising scenes as the characters strive to survive and fight off their assailants. The multiple surprising and unexpected events included in the novel, shocked me and kept me glued to the pages. In the chaotic, dark and unfamiliar world created by the war, Harry and Jasmine’s story anchors the incredible plot. Through the upheaval, Harry remains determined to restore what he had with Jasmine before the war broke out.
