Synopsis:

Having foiled an alien invasion with the help of some very out-of-town friends, Andromeda Brown’s seventh grade future looks set: boredom at school, extra-terrestrial help with her homework, and – hopefully – only modest amounts of detention. The world, however, has other ideas. A grisly death in the Chicago sewers can mean only one thing. The alien Kulrada are back. Even worse, her father has decided she needs a nanny. A human nanny would be bad enough, but no human would ever wear so much beige. Andromeda’s nanny is totally a Kulrada robot. Not knowing what she looks like, the nannybot has been searching for her all summer, and now, somehow, it’s cooking dinner in her kitchen while trying to work out if Andromeda is the target it’s looking for. If Andromeda lays low, her out-of-town friends will be unable to stop alien invasion 2.0. But if she tries to act, her cover will be blown, and the nannybot will tear Andromeda and everyone she knows to pieces. Andromeda’s life has once again become impossibly complicated. And that’s not even counting the sudden rash of earthquakes.

Review:

The Deep Tunnel: An Andromeda Brown Novel by Adam Alexander is an outstanding children’s, pre-teen science fiction novel. In it we have the main character, thirteen year old Andromeda Brown and her two friends DeMarcus and Mhair. The story focuses on the pre-teens lives as they deal with their struggles in their school and home life while also fighting against the evil Kulrada with the help of the friendly Grrmmbls.

When things start going terribly wrong, the kids must deal with it. There is a rash of earthquakes in the city and two people are discovered dead within the deep tunnel by the lake. There are a slew of other problems going on. Andromeda learns about the truth of her mother’s death which crushes her. With all the trouble going on, the kids become the only ones to save the earth. With the help of their friends, the kids face the aliens.

There are several interesting characters in The Deep Tunnel. They are unique and very well developed. The main character Andromeda Brown is one that kids will easily connect with. This book is written with an expressive tone, keeping the children in mind. It is fast paced and easy to read and follow along. The storyline and plot is original, appealing and gripping. It is compelling and engrossing. I loved it and was captivated by it from the get go.

The settings, scenarios, kids, aliens, robots and other various characters are all described perfectly and detailed vividly keeping the reader on the scene fully engaged and in tune. This is an original, very creative work of children’s fiction. I love the author, Adam Alexander’s, way of narrating the storyline and plot. It is concise and clear. Although it is written for pre-teens and teens, adults will enjoy it too. I am getting my niece a copy, I know she will love it. I don’t always recommend many books written in the science fiction genre for kids, but Artisan Book Reviews does highly recommend The Deep Tunnel. It is spectacular.

Get your child a copy of The Deep Tunnel by Adam Alexander, they will learn some new things while being fully entertained.
