Hi! My name is J M  Kirkley and I am an award-winning author of my debut novel, A Writing Upon the Sand. I received the Book Excellence Award for Best Christian Historical Romance from Artisan Book Reviews.
Though I’m originally from Southern California, I’ve grown deep roots in Texas for almost 50
years. I attended college here at Stephen F. Austin State University where I earned a Masters
degree in Counseling. I now practice faith-based therapy in East Texas, where I specialize in trauma and grief recovery. I’m blessed with a spouse I call my best friend, and he and my kids and grandkids are among my favorite people. Our expanding circle includes those we choose to care about, whom we call family. Add to this mix, our granddog, Rey, who is a mini sheepadoodle, and a three-legged adopted stray cat named Stockings, and it makes for lively gatherings.
As for interests, I’m not sure at what point history became relevant and compelling to me, but I enjoy researching history for my historical fiction. I also enjoy bringing new life to old antique furniture that we find at flea markets, and going to art festivals and museums.
