The Adventures Of Toby Baxter Book 4: EyeHeart RiverHome by Tim Wright
Kissing! Love Stories! Romance! Yuk!
13-Year-Old Toby Baxter’s fourth adventure into RiverHome proves to be far more than he bargained for. Not only must he once again do battle against the troll Plythar, he will also have to navigate his way through heart emojis, the sandpit of love, romcoms, and love tweets. Gross! Making matters worse, he’s guided by an L-O-V-E compass.
The girl of his dreams, Rainie, has been kidnapped by the trolls. It’s up to him to find her. But with the stakes higher than they’ve ever been before, Toby wonders if he’s up for the challenge. And when his mom enters the picture, his whole Quest is turned upside down.
The Adventures of Toby Baxter—Book 4:EyeHeart RiverHome is filled with fast-paced adventure, surprising twists, and wry humor, engaging readers of all ages with the joy of reading and a few life lessons along the way.
Our courageous young hero, Toby Baxter, returns in a new adventure, EyeHeart RiverHome, where he embarks on a rescue mission. Stakes are higher than ever as his arch-nemesis Plythar, an evil troll, is out for blood as he threatens to destroy everything Toby holds dear. Tim Wright recaptures the magic in his latest installment, as readers are whisked away on a journey filled with surprising twists and turns.
It has been a delight to read this series, as each book builds upon a world that yields endless spellbinding, gripping adventures and unbelievable new discoveries through their explorations. One of my favorite aspects has been the character growth, especially Toby’s. When we first met him, he was hesitant, but now Toby is becoming fearless and resilient, the makings of a true leader. He is now more willing to run into danger than away from it.
We also see his priorities shift; no longer is he concerned about superhero pajamas, but now he’s focused on young love. As Toby gets older, the complexity of his feelings and emotions deepens as he has to acknowledge ‘an obvious and awkward situation that is difficult to understand and talk about – the elephant in the room – Romance.’ Toby soon discovers there is much more to Love than meets the eye. The subject is approached in a light-hearted yet meaningful way that is approachable and charming.
The action jumps off the pages, yet Wright allows the story to slow down for the book to breathe and let the characters be in the moment amid the rising drama. Stark words of warning and cautions are given throughout to show the negative consequences of people’s bad choices and the severity of the situation which can be long lasting.
EyeHeart RiverHome by Tim Wright is a compelling read full of action, suspense and laughter. It is a fantastic addition to the series and will charm all ages. The storytelling will inspire you with heartfelt life lessons. You will be pulled into a magical world of elves, giants, trolls and gnomes and you won’t want to leave as there is so much heart, authenticity and enthusiasm. Fans of clever fantasy, with wholesome, youthful romance and fun and daring adventures will love reading this meaningful, entertaining read.
