Moonlight Rocks: Murder and Magic by Yurie Kiri

What would you do if God fell into your lap?

Jessy Ascher and her friends set up camp near Moonlight Rocks in the California desert to watch the Leonid meteor shower. After darkness falls, a stunningly bright meteor suddenly flashes across the sky blinding the friends to the approaching danger.

The meteorite blasts into their camp site knocking everyone unconscious but Jessy quickly regains her senses. Her friends however, cannot be roused. Instinctively she grabs the still smoking meteorite and stumbles downhill toward the jeep she arrived in, desperate to get help for her friends…

But, Jessy isn’t alone in that rough, cactus-filled landscape… two dark figures who also saw the meteor flashing down to Earth are frantically searching the same area and they are ready to do anything… even murder to get their hands on a meteorite they could sell to the highest bidder.

And what about the meteorite? Others have been waiting for its arrival. Cultists, fanatical members of nearby religious or supernatural factions – some good, some evil – believe that the meteor heralds the birth of a new Messiah and they, too, are ready to do anything to gain control of the blessed rock.

Jessy wants help for her friends, others want the meteorite for their own end, but the Meteorite, it wants something too… Death, Disappearances, And Mayhem Ensue

Is this the dawn of a new spiritual age, or just a bunch of psychos raging in the desert.

Artisan Book Reviews

They say, in an extraordinary event, only the strong survive.  In Moonlight Rocks: Murder and Magic by Yurie Kiri, even the readers may not survive.  Moonlight Rocks is full of unexpected plot sequences and edge-of-your-seat moments that will rock most readers in the best of ways.

It was the meteor event of the season and Jessy, Marty, Don, Mary, Bill, and Sally were ready for a fun night of campfires, hotdogs, and games before the meteors really began.  It was said that the last person who had found a meteor was paid over 1 million dollars for the rock; so, while this group was interested in the atmospheric anomaly, other bad actors had only money on their mind.  It was a night that literally changed lives as one meteor in the Leonid meteor shower came crashing through the atmosphere and headed straight towards the group of friends.  When the dust settled, only Jessy seemed unharmed; and when everyone else in her friend group couldn’t be roused, Jessy grabbed the meteor and headed for help.  What Jessy didn’t know was that this meteor had been prophesied by groups such as cultists and supernatural factions as a blessed rock that would herald a new Messiah.  As Jessy tries to help her friends, the meteorite she picked up also has its own interests as do the groups who are furiously searching for the sacred stone. Will Jessy be able to help save her friends in time, or will the stone have more power than anyone’s ever realized?

Yurie Kiri has mastered the fine art of suspense.  In this book, Moonlight Rocks: Murder and Magic, Yurie has ingeniously spun a gripping storyline filled with unique characters, and interesting unconventional religious groups. Readers will be completely drawn in, engrossed, and so fascinated by the sharp narrative, phantastic characters and intriguing plot that they won’t be able to stop reading Moonlight Rocks, a most fascinating, unnerving and alarming tale! I loved the way she brought so many unusual groups into this thrilling storyline, and the way she wove them into the suspenseful plot is simply brilliant. Moonlight Rocks is so mesmerizing and unpredictable in its plot line that readers will be transported in ways they’d never envisioned; for example, Yurie masterfully uses religion and the paranormal throughout this book in unexpected, and exciting ways. I was enthralled with the various unusual groups, their motives, actions and why they wanted the meteorite and what the meteorite curiously meant to each group.  Yurie Kiri’s mind (and therefore her writing) is mysterious and intriguing.  I am excited to learn that this is her third book of five in the Murder and Magic series, so I can read more of her incredible stories and novels.

Readers who enjoy paranormal suspense, occult or the supernatural, and thrillers will truly enjoy Moonlight Rocks: Murder and Magic! Yurie weaves a spellbinding tale that readers won’t be able to put down.  Her work will leave you at the edge of your seat and anxiously turning page after page to see what happens next! Yurie Kiri is recognized as a talented writer and an exceptionally imaginative storyteller of the most original stories that transport her readers to alarming realms of intrigue, mystery, suspense and the supernatural. Artisan Book Reviews highly recommends Moonlight Rocks the third installment in the mesmerising Murder and Magic series by Yurie Kiri.
